At 10:08 a.m. on 20 May 2025, the first vessel of 12,500DWT MPC (Hull No. SF230201) built by Sanfu Shipbuilding for the German owner was successfully launched at No.1 shipyard of the company. Under the witness of owner's representative, DNV Classification Society representative and Sanfu ship's representative, Mr. Felix, the godfather of Sanfu shipyard, named the vessel as ‘FELIX’. The successful launching and naming of the vessel marked a significant progress in the construction of the first vessel of the series of orders from the German shipowner.
The vessel has an overall length of 147.00 metres, a vertical length of 140.00 metres, a beam of 22.80 metres, a depth of 11.55 metres, a design draft of 7.50 metres, a speed of 15 knots, a range of 10,200 nautical miles, and is classed by DNV. This series of vessels is further optimised and designed by SF shipyard on the basis of the original 12,500-tonne MPC model, which is a new type of green and environmentally friendly vessel with increased ice strengthening and meets TIER 3 emission rules.
Mr. Yang Yifeng, Chairman of Sanfu shipyard, said: ‘The successful launching of 12,500t MPC could not be achieved without the support and help from on-site supervisors, classification societies and friends from all walks of life, as well as the hard work and dedication of all the staffs involved in the construction. SANFU SHIPPING will complete the sea trial delivery of the first vessel and the construction of the subsequent vessels with high quality and quantity, and as always, adhering to the concept of ‘playing the most satisfactory shipyard for shipowners, seriously summarise the work experience, further improve the design and construction process, enhance the product quality, and strive to return the support and trust of the shipowners with better quality products and services.
